Qi Yoga Studio (Penang) - Yoga Alliance USA Teacher Training Course


This course will leave you with a deeper personal understanding of yoga and the ability to teach a safe, positive and productive yoga class. You will understand and be able to share the spirit of yoga with others.

Course Certification and Accreditation
Qi Yoga School is a registered school with Yoga Alliance USA. Our teacher training programme and faculty team are internationally accredited, have exclusive recognition and qualify for the 200-hour Yoga Alliance Certification.

Yoga Alliance is an international governing board for yoga teachers and training programme in the U.S and globally. Graduates of our programme are automatically eligible to register as a RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) with Yoga Alliance. Becoming a RYT means having a higher profile and gaining international recognition as a yoga teacher, attributes that many hiring studios look for.

Those who have completed the course will receive an internationally recognised teacher training certification.


The syllabus in accordance with Yoga Alliance USA, is as follows:


Technique 100 hours

Teaching Methodology 15 hours

Anatomy and Physiology 20 hours

Philosophy/ Ethics/ Lifestyle 20 hours

Practicum 25 hours

Non-contact Hours 20 hours

Contact Hours minimum 180 hours


Techniques Includes asanas, pranayamas, chanting and meditation. Hours in this category include both training in the techniques and practice of them.
Teaching Methodology Principles of demonstration, observation, assisting/ correcting, instruction, teaching styles, qualities of a teacher and the student’s process of learning.
Anatomy and Physiology Includes both human physical anatomy and physiology (bodily systems, organs, etc.) and energy anatomy and physiology (chakras, nadis, etc.). Includes both the study of the subject and application of its principles to yoga practice (benefits, contraindications, healthy movement patterns, etc.)
Philosophy/ Ethics/ Lifestyle Study of yoga scriptures (Yoga Sutras, Hatha Yoga Pradipika & Bhagavad Gita), ethics for yoga teachers, ‘living the life of yoga’ and yogic diet.
Practicum Includes student teaching as well as observing and assisting in classes taught by the trainer. Hours are a combination of supervised and unsupervised
Non-contact hours The non-contact or independent study hours can include: assigned reading or other homework, non-supervised study groups, observing yoga classes etc.
Contact Hours The teacher trainer is physically in the presence of the student while lecturing on a topic. The non- contact or independent study hours can include: assigned reading or other homework, non- supervised study groups, observing yoga classes etc.

Pre- requisites:
Good physical health and an open mind are the two pre-requisites. It is preferable that prospective students have some experience of yoga, though this is not necessary.
For those who are already teachers or who may have practiced before, leave your preconceptions about yoga aside, bring in an open and willing-to learn-mindset, this will be a life challenging experience.
